Butcher’s Daughters

Butcher’s Daughters required a website that would serve as a multifaceted tool. It needed to succinctly present the four aspects of their service: a lunch cafe, fresh & frozen prepared food, their grocery products and catering. Each aspect of their service is targeted towards a different need in their target market. Our role as web designers was to present this broad spectrum of information in such a way that everyone that came to the site could easily find the information specific to their needs. We achieved this through the use of carefully chosen images presented in a dynamic rotation, large buttons that paired text with illustrative images and clear navigation.

An additional role of the website was to offer information about the daily specials. We built a customized tool that makes it very easy for the client to make these changes on their website on a daily basis. The site is built to maintain the design integrity regardless of how many or few daily specials there are. We designed a Facebook timeline to match the web site design.

The overall goal for the design of the site was to capture the unique, high quality of the products and services offered by Butcher’s Daughters. We worked closely with a photographer to capture the perfect images. We then used the colours and textures found in the shop itself to drive the design.

Our design needed to provide a backdrop for the dramatic art being displayed while still being interesting enough to stand alone on the pages where there was not art to display. We worked closely with the AAC to develop content that has optimized their search engine performance.

We created a customized content management tool that allows them to regularly update art images, artists, class schedules and content. The tool allows them to update the dynamic element on the front page of their site.
